Late August 2014 I was at work and I suddenly felt an excruciating pain in my trapezoid ( I would say shoulder or neck, but I like showing off my newly acquired medical knowledge!). It subsided after a while and I thought no more about it. Until I was woken up at 2 am with the pain about 100 times worse. I walked up to my local hospital, they didn't examine me, just gave me some painkillers and told me to see my doctor I'm the morning. Now, I hadn't needed to see a doctor in years, so I had to register, but I couldn't even lift my arm to fill out the forms. Anyway, the doctor there sent me home as well without examining me. As the week went on, I was getting steadily worse, couldn't walk to the end if my road without being sick. Eventually my dad came and took me back to his home in Aberdeen. A couple if days later, he took me to his doctor ( by this point I was so dehydrated, I could hardly speak) the doc took one look at me, and sent me straight into the hospital in Aberdeen. He was going to call an ambulance, but my dad took me in. While there, I went through various levels of seniority, until the plastics consultant saw me. By this point, I was in a bad way, but I will never forget what he said. " if you have any phone calls to make, I would do it now". 2 weeks later I woke up, minus all the muscle from the right of my chest, shoulder and part of the bicep. Now, :2 years later, I'm actually fitter and healthier than I've ever been. I run 10ks, hopefully half marathons next year.
